2005 Work Trip Story
by Rod Pepper

Wow, what a hoot! A great group of people, awesome weather, 2 killer nights around the campfire under a bright full moon, ah, it don't get any better. Our work project turned out really well. We put up about 100 yards of new buck fence and a short section of corduroy at Nelson Park in Snowy Range. We only worked 5 hours, got the forest service truck stuck in the mud once, winched it out. And then, during group photos, Willie yelled "There's a bear!" To our surprise there was a bear about 40 yards behind us----- and a herd of cattle about 40 yards in front of us. I think we were in the way of his dinner! We were back in camp by the middle of the afternoon. Everett and Will took their kids and dogs down to the lake for a romp while everyone else just lazed around camp. I went fishin'. Saturday night was, well, whew! what a good time. There was a mysterious explosion along about 3:00am (ask Dewey) that had some people banging their heads on camper roofs (ask David Kipf) and some rolling in the dirt laughing (ask Brian and Kristy). Sunday morning brought about another mysterious occurrence. The Cinnabar Park Self- Propelled Portable Outhouse! (ask Kristy Kubal). As Kristy was sitting by the fire reading a book she noticed the portable outhouse (brought up by a member) start to move. It then quickly fell onto its side and as Kristy reported "All I saw was a big white butt and 2 bare legs sticking in the air!" The outhouse was quickly uprighted by its occupant, hoisted knee high and in full retreat across the meadow! By this time I'm dyin' laughing. Kristy added, "It was just crazy, here's this portable outhouse, with legs, big, white bare legs, truckin' across the meadow with this little tent flap blowin' in the wind" I lost it.
