Saturday July 15th Club Run to Buena Vista Colorado

George Brook is the trip leader for the July club run. He is headed to the Buena Vista Colorado area to run some trails. Take I-25 to Denver. Once in Denver Take I-76 to I-70 to 470 west. Take the exit for highway 285 (Hampden Ave) west. You will go about 220 miles. Note: Johnson Village is before the town of Buena Vista. It is at the intersection of highway's 285 and 24. If you get to highway 24 you have gone too far. Take Highway 285 to Johnson Village. There are gas stations there where you can fill up if you need to. In between the rafting building and the gas stations you'll see CR301 to your left. Take that road just past the red barn and you'll see a gate to your left marked "Prison Property" that runs in a straight line for a short way to another gate and an open area (you can see this open area from the main road). This area is perfect for airing down, disconnecting and getting ready for the trail. Be sure to close both gates. This is also the trailhead for Carnage Canyon (also known as "BV Carnage" because this "Carnage Canyon" is near Buena Vista and is NOT the same trail as the Carnage Canyon in Boulder County). You can camp at the trailhead and there will be people camped there on Friday night. Be at the trailhead by 10:00 Saturday morning to run BV Carnage. Chinamen's will be run later in the day or Sunday morning. If you have any questions call George Brook-307-760-7901.
