Muddy Creek, Wyoming (Work Party w/Forest Service)
August 2002
The August Club Work Trip and Picnic was fantastic! Everyone but Rod took a beautiful
tour of the Medicine Bow National Forest before arriving at Big Thompson campground.
We saw moose & elk and enjoyed steaks, burgers, fried potatoes, and pancakes,
bacon & eggs throughout our stay. We spent the evenings just shooting the breeze
and enjoying the forest & the company.
Saturday, we met with Dean Lebeda with the Forest Service to do trail maintenance on the Muddy Gap Trail.
We blocked off areas with erosion, and spurs where ATVs have been off the trail and
reseeded them. We also blocked areas where vehicles have gone around puddles or
obstacles and caused damage. It was easy to see how one person driving off the
trail can cause a drastic & long-lasting trail change.
We can all just grab a couple of buddies and go 4-wheeling, but this is really
what the club is all about...actively protecting the land we love to use.
