| 3rd Annual Blind Chicken Races! 2010 |
The 3rd Annual Blind Chicken Races! were held at Walden on Saturday, June 19th. The weather was outstanding and the sand was flying! It was vintage Walden with a fairly large turnout of sand rats from around the area. Lots of very cool sand machines! 10 RC4W member families made the trek up to the big cat box for this year’s event. Dewey Williams, Eric Brown, Mike and Krissy Jacob, Brian and Kristy Kubal, Lenny and Jane Golding, Sean Murphy, Aaron Lenz, Marlon and Christina Seals, Paul Bickerton and myself made up the fun-seekers for this go-around.
Most of us camped on Friday and Saturday night and made a weekend out of it. The sand drags were so popular this year we never even ran the blindfold and egg races. The sand drags lasted for several hours and provided a lot of entertainment as well as bragging rights for the winners. We had probably 70-75 different competitors wailing on their junk trying to beat the guy in the other lane! The rest of the time was spent playing at all the usual hangouts, “The Creek”, “Deadman”, “Drag Hill“, “The Flats”, “The Whoops” and “The Beach”. There was also plenty of hot and heavy action after the sun went down and the big lights came on! The sand is way cool at night, and looks a lot different than during the day.
Just another outstanding weekend playing in the Rocky Mountain backcountry with the RC4W family, and friends. More great memories in the bank!
